Title
Things to do for farmer brothers during heavy rains
Details

Dear agricultural brothers and sisters, at a time when people and nature are exhausted by the scorching heat of summer, the monsoon comes among us to calm, cool, and purify the earth with the cool touch of the new monsoon season.

Canals, rivers, streams, ponds, and ponds fill up with new water. The green nature, washed away by the trees, makes every Bengali feel good. Along with this, our agricultural work brings a lot of hard work.

Dear farmers, let us briefly know the essential tasks to be done in agriculture during this monsoon.

• Harvest ripe vegetables quickly.

• Drain excess water from the land. To avoid waterlogging, create drainage channels around the vegetable fields.

• Keep the drainage channels of Aman paddy fields clean so that water does not accumulate.

• Raise the edges of Aman paddy fields.

• Avoid irrigation, fertilizer and pesticides.

• Provide poles for bananas and other vegetables.

• Tie up sugarcane branches.

• Keep the living area of cattle and poultry clean and dry.

• Raise the sides of the pond and, if possible, surround it with netting or bamboo slats on all sides so that the fish do not get swept away by the excess water. • Boro rice and other seeds should be stored in high and proper containers so that they do not get spoiled by rain or moisture.

• If there is a risk of flooding, the early-planted Aush rice should be harvested when it is 80 percent ripe, threshed, dried, and stored properly.

• If high land is not available for creating seedbeds for Aman rice, seedlings can be produced by creating seedbeds using a floating method.

• In drought and saline areas, a mini pond can be dug in a corner of the land to retain rainwater so that supplementary irrigation can be ensured later.

• After maturity, the corn cobs should be collected and stored in the veranda of the house before they are damaged by rain.

• Among the vegetables produced at this time, the stems, gimakolmi, puishak, chichinga, dhundul, cucumber, okra, and brinjal should be cleaned of weeds and the soil should be removed if necessary.
