Digantjora field is a vast crop field surrounded by greenery. Eyes widen when looking around. Every crop field in Madaripur district is now bustling with farmers. Farmers are now busy tending Aman paddy in the hope of good yield.

On the surface, in different areas of Madaripur, one can see golden paddy in vast fields. As far as the eye can see, there is only rice and rice. The rain is more, the insects in the rice have decreased. As the morning passed and the day progressed, the paddy bunches seemed to have become more vigorous due to the strong sun.Meanwhile, this year, farmers have to bear additional costs due to the increase in the prices of fertilizers and pesticides in Aman cultivation. However, after overcoming these problems, the farmers said that the bumper yield of Aman rice has been achieved. They said that last year, each paddy was sold for 800 to 900 taka. If the price of paddy increases this year, the farmer will get some profit. They demanded fair price of rice from the government.

Majed Ali, a farmer of Alipur area of Kalkini upazila, said that this year, by planting Aman, we hope to get a bumper crop by the grace of God. However, the cost of cultivation has doubled compared to last year. Due to high cost of fertilizer and electricity, the cost has gone up. 15 thousand rupees were spent per bigha. However, I am hoping that this year the Aman paddy will be good.

Sadar Upazila Khwajpur Union Paddy Cultivator Abdul Rashid said, the price is good in the market. Farmers will get profit from rice this year. 10-15 thousand rupees per bigha of land excluding expenses.


Deputy Director of Madaripur District Agricultural Extension Directorate. Santosh Chandra Chand said, this time the target of Aman paddy production in the district has been fixed at 22 thousand 30 metric tons. Due to sufficient rain in this district, insects and spiders did not attack the rice. Aman paddy has been cultivated in more land than the target this time.
